Things to Do: Wine & Run for the Roses

The Muscarelle Museum of Art is pleased to announce its third
annual Wine & Run for the Roses Wine Auction, which it will
host on May 4, 2013. This event will begin with a silent auction
and reception of the finest Virginia wines, showcasing a range
of labels from across the Commonwealth. The reception will be
immediately followed by a live auction, featuring unique wines
and exclusive lots only available through the Museum. Over
300 attendees are expected to take part in this exciting debut
event, all proceeds of which will directly benefit the Museum
— thus continuing to ensure the availability of world-class
museum programs for the William & Mary and Hampton Roads
communities, both now and in the future.
This year
The French Burgundy theme featuring the renowned Leroy
Wines will be a rare wine lover opportunity.The event will begin
with a diverse tasting of the finest Virginia wines and conclude
with the running of the 139th Kentucky Derby. The live auction
and silent auctions will feature exclusive Burgundy wines and
other unique lots available only through this event.
Lots to be auctioned
This year hundreds of quality red and white Burgundy wines
will be auctioned to include the renowned Leroy Wines. Wines
from Chambertin, Morey St Denis, Vougeot, Musigny, Vosne
Romanee, Nuits St George, Corton, Volnay, Pommard,
Montrachet, Meursault and Chablis are all included in the auction.
Other featured wines include:
Petrus, Haut Brion, Chateau Latour, Lafite, Margaux, Mouton,
Ausone, Cheval Blanc, Barolo, Sassicaia, DRC, Masetto,Gaja,
Cote Rotie, Harlan, Screaming Eagle, and many more
