Marcel Deaulniers, author of Death by Chocolate and former chef and partner of the Trellis Restaurant is opening MAD about Chocolate soon in downtown Williamsburg,
As you might expect, this chocolate cafe will serve Marcel’s over-the-top desserts. MAD about Chocolate will also offer cookies, brownies, ice cream along with sweet and non-sweet versions of cheesecake, bread pudding, pies and the list goes on….
The opening is scheduled for late February or early March. Marcel promises indulgences galore – so much for your New Years resolution. I am getting hungry just writing about this.
Everything will be made from scratch using all-natural ingredients in the MAD about Chocolate open kitchen. The cafe seats 12. Therefore take-out and online sales will be a large part of the business.
Marcel will operate MAD about Chocolate with his wife, Connie, an artist. The interior will include Connie’s art, and many of the components – such as tables, light fixtures and display counters – will be created by local artisans. In addition, there is a LED ceiling mounted light fixture. The outside of it will have the effect of melting chocolate coming down from the ceiling.
The art and aroma filled café will be located at the Triangle Building, 204 Armistead Ave. which is a block from Colonial Williamsburg and The College of William and Mary.
