Palace Concert & Dinner at Christina Campbell’s Tavern

Guests can enjoy an evening on the town worthy of the Founding Fathers with this fall’s Palace Concert: From the Collection.

First, enjoy a dinner fit for colonial gentry at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern at 5:30 p.m., followed by a chamber music concert with Governor’s Musick, Colonial Williamsburg’s resident performing ensemble.
Several instruments from Colonial Williamsburg’s collection will be brought “out of the vault” for the occasion. The concert will feature a rare 18th-century violin built by Nathaniel Cross; a rare 16th-century viola made by Gasparo de Salo; an 18th-century violincello built by Englishman Peter Wamsley; a 1758 Kirckman harpsichord; and a mid-18th-century Adcock and Pether chamber organ.
The concert will take place in the Governor’s Palace ballroom, where the harpsichord and organ reside year-round. Five dinner concerts are offered on Sept. 28, Oct. 12, 19, 26 and Nov. 2.
Each dinner concert features a three-course dinner at Christiana Campbell’s Tavern. Guests select one dish from each of three courses reminiscent of an 18th-century tavern dinner. Dinner begins with the captain’s sherried crab stew or Christiana’s favourite salet. Featured dishes include Gloucester chicken, crab cakes, petite tenderloin of beef and Molly’s macaroni-vegetable medley. Guests can finish with tempting desserts such as rum cream pie and Williamsburg specialty ice creams.

Dinner Concert Schedule: October 19, 26 and November
