Golf Magazine Lists Golden Horseshoe On Top 100 List

The September issue of Golf magazine has named Colonial Williamsburg’s Golden Horseshoe Gold Course to its biannual list of the Top 100 Courses You Can Play. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the Gold Course is one of only three courses in Virginia to make the list of 100 best public access courses in the country.

Golf magazine also recognizes The Best Courses Near You, a state-by-state listing of the best public access courses. Both the Golden Horseshoe Gold and the Green Course made the 2010 list of 15 Virginia courses named by the publication. The Green Course was designed by Rees Jones.

The Golden Horseshoe was certified as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary earlier this year by Audubon International. The designation recognizes a commitment to environmental stewardship in planning, wildlife and habitat management, outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety, water conservation and water quality management.

In addition, Golfweek magazine recognized the Golden Horseshoe on its 2010 list of 100 Best Resort Courses.

The Golden Horseshoe Gold Clubhouse is located south of Colonial Williamsburg’s Historic Area at 401 S. England St. in Williamsburg. The Green Course is located at 520 S. England St. about one mile from the Gold. For information, call (757) 220-7696 or visit http://www.colonialwilliamsburg.com.

TIP – Stay at Kingsmill Resort & Spa and play golf at Kingsmill too.
